Please find below the ICC profiles from ECI. Besides profiles for offset printing and gravure printing - based on reference characterization data according to the ISO 12647 series of standards - the ICC profile recommended by ECI as working color space, eciRGB_v2 is available for download.
There is a ISO standard for offset printing (ISO 12647-2) concerning optimal color space and reproduction in industrial printing. Because there are different ways to correctly reproduce a RGB color in CMYK color space, there are different ways to convert RGB colors into CMYK colors. Especially the composition of "black" differs widely in coated FORGRA and ISO coated.
If you convert a RGB image into CMYK using ISO coated v2 300, the profile guarantees, that ink coverage won't exceed 300 %, what is very important for different printing processes. For example all online print companies in Germany strictly demand not to exceed 300 % ink coverage and strongly recommend the use of ISO coated v2 300.
As late and early binding are concerned, when I talked about working in ISO coated v2 300 as a document profile from the beginning on, that would be early binding right? I can see the big disadvantage of this method for changing printing/ output services but I also previously said that there would be the advantage that one just cant exceed the printers gamut, right, or whats the advantage of this process?
When you edit a profiled CMYK image, it is highly probable to violate the profiles preferences. Think, you have a part of the image with exact 300% ink coverage and you put another objekt into it using a drop shadow. In this case you suddenly have an ink coverage, which is way to high. If you tell your printing servive, that this image has ISO coated v2 300, you are simply telling not the truth: Yes, the image my have this profile, but the content of the image definitely doesn't!
Convert an image into ISO coated 300% profile and you should not find any part of the image with a higher ink coverage. Now perform some edits (more contrast and saturation for example) and the same parts of the image again (for example using the color picker).

To achieve this, the International Color Consortium (ICC) develops colour profiles for different media. The ICC profiles can be downloaded for free (more on this later). They are compatible with Windows, Mac OS and any other standard operating system. However, ICC profiles are usually not installed on your computer by default so you have to do this manually. Also, you have to embed the ICC profiles in your layout program. We will explain how to do this later in this article.
ICC profiles are continuously developed further. The colour profiles relevant for print shops (PSO coated & uncoated) have been available in an updated version since 2015. The latest version 3 of this standard promises even better colour reproduction, especially on natural papers. But the 12647-2:2013 printing standard also specifies new requirements for measurement technology, standard illumination and proof papers.
Now right-click a profile and select Install profile. ISOcoated_v2_300_eci.icc, ISOcoated_v2_eci.icc and PSO_Uncoated_ISO12647_ECI.icc. Alternatively, copy the files into the Windows folder at \WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color.
But you can also define colour profiles for each file individually and independently of the global default settings. This makes sense since you should use different profile data for uncoated papers, for example. Select the desired colour profile in the PDF Export dialog.
Click Output in the following dialog box. In the Color panel, choose Convert to Destination in the Conversion Options drop-down list box. Under Destination, you can now choose the required colour profile (coated v3 or uncoated v3).
Hallo. Ich soll für den Druck eines Auftrages die INDD Datei mit dem Farbprofil ISOcoated_v2_300_eci liefern. Beim LAden der Datei in Indesign erhalte ich aber einen Fehler. Dann habe ich von eci.org die neueste Datei ISOcoated_v2_to_PSOcoated_v3_DeviceLink.icc runtergeladen und versucht zu installieren - gleicher Fehler. Die Fehlermeldung seht ihr auf dem Screenshot.
